Avery County Cycles are hand-crafted in Denver, Colorado. The name comes from a small county in Western North Carolina were I first learned about craftsmanship.

I was born in Tennessee and raised in North Carolina. My grandparents, Doris and Lowell, made a home in Avery County in the early 80's. This is the place where I first learned to ride a bicycle and more importantly where I watched my grandfather tooling in his shop.

My grandfather was an engineer. He designed machines for a large paper company, but most of my memories are of him building model airplanes and fixing anything around the house that needed improvement. In his shop, I learned the fundamentals of craftsmanship and attention to detail.  These are the same skills applied to every steel frame produced at Avery County Cycles.
